Cheap broadband progress made
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Britain has come in the top ten in a study that ranks the information and communications technology development of countries.
The ICT Development Index from the International Telecommunications Union placed the UK in tenth in the report, which looked at issues such as cheap broadband access and mobile use.
Sweden came first in the rankings, with South Korea, Denmark and the Netherlands following.
However, the UK did come ahead of major competitors such as Japan, the US, China, Germany and France.

The report stated: "Globally speaking, most progress has been made on ICT access, which includes fixed and mobile telephony, internet bandwidth, and households with computers and internet."
It added that people are shying away from fixed lines and turning to cheap mobile deals, with mobile sales more than triple landlines throughout the world.
The ITU has also launched a new ICT Price Basket, which compares the relative prices of ICT across different countries.
