Mobile phones could be safer than credit cards

That is the opinion of the Mobile Data Association (MDA), which has suggested that security is the only issue stopping phones widely being used for making payments.
Steve Reynolds, chairman of the Mobile Data Association, observed that the technology is now advanced enough to allow mobile payments.

"We do need to be very aware of security and be sure that everything going to and from the phone is encrypted and that we've got the ability to disable phones remotely," he said.
"If we put these security systems in place we may have a more secure system than the current credit card system."
New research from Ingenico found that using cheap mobile deals to pay for goods is already a popular idea with shoppers, though only four per cent of respondents have used the technology.
