News brought to you by Skint Tariffs. Providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.Ryanair has become the first airline to offer an in-flight mobile phone service for passengers in UK air space.
Under the new initiative, 20 of the budget carrier's 170-strong fleet have been equipped with the necessary technology, enabling travellers to stay in touch with the ground by phone call, email or text message.
Calls made while onboard a Ryanair plane will cost as much as £3 a minute, with Vodafone and O2 already signed up to the service.

Welcoming the news, the Air Transport Users Council claimed that, on short-haul flights in particular, mobile connections will always be a good thing.
"Business people want to be in touch with their affairs, while other passengers can get hold of people on the ground if their flight is delayed or diverted," the organisation's industry affairs manager James Freemantle told the BBC.
At present, only flights between London and Dublin boast the service, with only six people allowed to make a call at a time.
Earlier this year, British Airways enabled business passengers on some of its long-haul flights to stay in touch with the ground via text message.
