'Line blurred' between TV and cheap broadband

That is the view of Microsoft, which has suggested that the line between the internet and TV is becoming blurred.
A major reason for this is the rising number of households which have cheap broadband deals that cater for more than one computer.

Ashley Highfield, managing director and vice-president of consumer and online UK at Microsoft, said: "The big trend that is new in the last year is rise of multifold laptops around the home. The PC is becoming a TV screen, we knew that, but this is a trend that is really cheap [and] is really simple.
"The majority of people have greater than one PC at home. The UK leads the world in terms of the reach of online television, in terms of the amount of strings per user."
According to Hitwise research, the top 25 video websites in Britain made up 2.22 per cent of all UK internet visits in February last year.
