The broadband comparison consumer website believes that it is unfair for people to be expected to pay for speeds they are not receiving and is urging consumers to find out if they are getting a good deal.

Chris Marling, editor of the site, stated: "Nobody wants to pay for something they're not getting, especially in a recession."
He went on to say that advertised speeds often are not accurate, so it is "up to the individual to reach their own conclusions".
"It takes about one minute to run the Broadband Genie speed test; what have you got to lose?" he added.
The time of day has been identified as one factor that can affect broadband speeds, with peak times often resulting in slower services.
