Cheap mobile deals for smartphones to increase

A study from Juniper Research has predicted that there will be a 95 per cent rise in annual sales of smartphones between 2008 and 2013.
Of all cheap mobile deals being purchased in the UK, 23 per cent will be for smartphones by 2013, the report claimed.

Andrew Kitson, the report author, said that this was due to the evolving nature of cheap pay as you go mobiles to "internet-centric, highly personalised computers".
"Changes in the design and form of mobile devices, such as the inclusion of large touch-based displays, have been taken to their limits," he added.
"Looking ahead, the shape and form of next-generation devices will most likely be led by software and content."
The milestone figure of 50 million sales was recently reached by BlackBerry, almost exactly as it reached the tenth anniversary of its launch in 1999.
