Google locates mobile broadband users

Google Latitude will let people with certain types of expensive and cheap pay as you go mobiles locate each other on Google Maps.
The company believes that it will be a great way for parents to keep an eye on their kids, as well as providing a way for friends to let each other know if they are in the same area.

However, in order to avoid any problems over privacy, mobile broadband users will have to opt in to the service, and will have control over who can see their location.
"You can use your Google account to sign in and easily invite friends to Latitude from your existing list of contacts or by entering their email addresses," said Google mobile software engineer Charles Mendis.
"Google Talk is integrated with Latitude, so you and your friends can update your status messages and profile photos on the go and see what everyone is up to."
Additionally, mobile broadband users will be able to send SMS messages to their friends with cheap pay as you go mobiles using the service.
