Cheap broadband 'self-regulation' praised

That is according to Open Rights Group, which believes that self-regulation is the most effective way of sorting out problems on the internet.
This applies on websites where comment is allowed, as well as social networking sites, blogs and YouTube.

Becky Hogge, executive director at the digital rights organisation, stated that the process of self-regulating is called "crowdsourcing".
"The best way to regulate the content is to rely on those same users either to alert administrators when there's a problem or sort out what content is suitable for dissemination themselves," she said.
He went on to claim that everyone with cheap broadband deals "is now a content regulator".
Nearly all of the most popular websites in the past three months, according to Alexa Traffic Rankings, include user-generated content as a main feature.
These include: Facebook, Windows Live, Yahoo!, YouTube, eBay UK and Bebo.
