Mobile broadband popularity 'growing rapidly'

Research by IDC has revealed that in Europe people are using their cheap pay as you go mobiles to access the internet more than ever.
John Delaney, IDC's European director of consumer mobile research, observed that upgrading and falling prices have contributed to this.
The fact that more consumers have mobiles that resemble portable PCs has also helped.

"Mobile broadband presents a big land-grab opportunity, both now and for several years to come," he said.
"But although the service is simple in concept, its role in the consumer services market is complex. Mobility is only one among a variety of reasons why consumers like mobile broadband."
He went on to say that understanding the role of mobile broadband as a part of overall mobile packages is key to its success for operators.
A mobility conference from IDC is set to be held in Copenhagen on March 26th.
