Palm Pre mobile 'marks return of pioneer'

Mobile-phones.co.uk has noted that the Palm Pre is a return to form for Palm, which is hoping to grab a share of the smart phone market from the likes of Apple and BlackBerry.
Thomas Newton from the website said: "The Palm Pre represents a return to form for one of the early pioneers of the PDA market, which has seen its market share marginalised by the likes of RIM with their BlackBerry series, Apple with the iPhone, and now T-Mobile, Google and HTC with the G1."

However, he added that Palm has "a loyal following" and cheap mobile deals for the phone could "reverse the fortunes" of the company.
It comes complete with a desktop quality web browser and gadgets including an accelerator.
Canalyst Research revealed in November that smart phone shipments around the world reached a new high of 39.9 million in the third quarter of 2008.
