Cheap broadband speed vital to Brits

That is according to a new report from Ofcom, which has suggested that 91 per cent of consumers believe speed is "an important consideration" when choosing their cheap broadband service.
It also found that the average UK broadband speed is 3.6 megabits per second, which is considerably lower than advertised speeds of many providers.

However, the majority of respondents were happy with their services, with just nine per cent revealing that they had complaints about their internet access and the rest indicating their satisfaction.
Ofcom has also revealed that Sunday is the slowest day for broadband use, especially between 5pm and 6pm, when broadband use is at its highest.
A Code of Practice for broadband was recently set up by the regulator, which provides guidelines for internet service providers.
