Cheap pay as you go mobile boarding passes go live
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs. Providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.Birmingham Airport has become one of the first airports in the country to use cheap pay as you go mobiles and other phones instead of boarding passes.
New technology allows mobile phones to be used instead of traditional paper passes on all Lufthansa flights from the Midlands airport, the Birmingham Mail reports.
Either e-mail of SMS text messages can be utilised to receive the passes, with more than 10,000 people already using the system in Germany, where it was originally used.

People will already have their mobiles on their person to make cheap international calls so it should increase the convenience of international travel.
Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa general manager UK and Ireland, told the newspaper: "I am sure this new service will prove to be invaluable, particularly to business travellers, by making their journeys simpler, more flexible and more convenient."
Plans to allow mobile phones to be used on flights in the future were announced last year, with BMI currently trialling the technology.
