Cheap pay as you go mobiles need to be more responsive

The communications company has suggested that as cheap mobile deals offer more advanced technology, the popularity of digital content will rise.
Geoff Hall, chief technical office of Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Nortel, stated that mobiles could take a leaf out of cheap broadband's book to improve its impact.

"The things that limit the responsiveness of the device are a big factor people don't like to wait," he said.
"We have to get out of that and get to the point in mobile bandwidth where it is similar to landline bandwidth, where the costs are more in line with the experience that you get."
However, he added that designs are being developed that are user-friendly.
Telecoms industry analysts Ovum has forecast there to be 5.63 billion mobile data service connections in the UK.
