'Nine times faster' cheap broadband deals
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.People in the UK could take up cheap broadband deals offering a service speed nine times faster than the current average in Britain.
Virgin Media has launched its new superfast, 50mb broadband service, which has been described as "a seismic leap forward" for home broadband.
Neil Berkett, chief executive of Virgin Media, stated that the launch of the technology, which utilises a unique fibre optic cable network, represented "a historic moment".

"This service will transform the way people interact and entertain themselves online and will provide a broadband experience that is truly world class."
He added that it was just the beginning and many other firms are likely to offer competing services in the future.
By the end of 2008, more than 40 per cent of Virgin Media's network is expected to be covered by the new service.
The Ofcom Communications Market Report in August found that the average UK headline broadband speed was 5.9mb.
