Text slang not just used on cheap pay as you go mobiles

That's according to language experts who say that new technology is changing the way people communicate.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, lexicographer Jonathon Green said: "What we're seeing is the influence of technology coupled with current events and inevitably of the young, who in many cases drive language.
"It's focused on this world of mobile phones - these abbreviations are perfectly suited to those little screens."

Mobile broadband has also increased the number of emails being sent, which are also often packed with abbreviations and slang terms.
The newspaper adds that this new way of communicating can create confusion with predictive text often leaving messages open to interpretation.
Typing the word 'cool' for example will also come up as 'book' on predictive text.
