Pay as you go mobiles from Land Rover
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs. Providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.Land Rover is the latest company to decide to enter the lucrative mobile phone market and will be making mobile phones for pay as you go and other tariffs.
The car brand is better known for making vehicles that can be used for heading out on safaris when travelling abroad, but it is now becoming a mobile phone marketer.
In partnership with Sorim, it is set to release three handsets in 2009, with the Land Rover S1 by Sorim set to be followed by the S2 GN and a final phone later in the year.
Pay As You Go - Great Savings
Lindsay Weaver, Land Rover global licensing manager, said: "Land Rover recognises that our customers' needs extend beyond the driver's seat.
"Sonim and Land Rover are ideal partners in this effort, as both companies thrive on ingenuity, craftsmanship and durability."
The phone will include special "rugged" features, such as the ability to withstand fog, smoke, water and humidity, as well as being dropped from up to 1.6 metres onto concrete from any angle.
Land Rover vehicles are sold in 164 countries around the globe.
