Cheap pay as you go mobiles chosen as MP3 players

Mobile phones that have the capability to play MP3s are outselling CD players by five to one, analysis from the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA) has found.
Of all MP3 devices sold in Britain in the 12 months up to the end of September 2008, three quarters were pay as you go handsets and other mobiles.
Pay As You Go - Great Savings
More than 44 million mobiles that can play MP3s were sold in the period, compared to just over eight million CD players.
Russel Coultart, chairman of ERA’s special interest group for digital retailers, ERA Digital, commented: "MP3's ability to compress lots of music into a small amount of memory makes it ideal for portable devices like mobile phones and MP3 players.
"The MP3 is the CD of the download world. The beauty of the MP3 is that it plays on everything."
Phones such as Nokia's Comes With Music are proving popular for their musical proficiencies.
