By going online before even planning a holiday, like-minded people or previous acquaintances can be found and new holidays can be organised, according to Where Are You Now (WAYN).
As well as making low cost international calls, Ian Rumgay, European communications manager for the travel social network, suggested using the technology to talk to old friends.

He added that, as a traveller, you "can get in contact with people that you have travelled with before or who might have similar interests to you".
"So you can network with people that you may have met in the past, you can also meet up with people all before you even get on the flight," he explained.
An Ofcom study, entitled Annex 3: Social Networking Qualitative research report, found that sites that had been recommended by close friends and were already being used by them are more popular with users.
