Many will be travelling abroad to enjoy a break and combining their trip with a visit to the festival, which is celebrating its 14th year in 2009 and runs from January 15th to February 15th.
However, the zero VAT on offer may spark UK residents to make cheap mobile calls to Dubai in order to ask their friends to pick them out a bargain or two.

Abdulla Hassan Amiri, the operations and logistics manager for Dubai Shopping Festival Office, commented: "We have culture, we have modern and classical culture.
"There are a lot of opportunities, good discounts and cheaper prices with our zero VAT. It's a most popular city as well."
Analysis from the government of Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing found that 6.95 million people stayed in Dubai hotels in 2007.
