Brits go wild for Olympics on home broadband
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.The Olympics proved a major hit with home broadband users when it took place in Beijing this summer and it is expected to an even bigger success in London in 2012.
Companies and products that associated themselves with the sporting showpiece online received big boosts in interest from cheap broadband users, according to Hitwise UK.
The research firm found that people were happy to buy into the Olympics, especially with Team GB performing so well.

Robin Goad, director of research at Hitwise UK, commented: "Once the Olympics started, seeing the success of the British team, we started seeing a massive increase in the amount of traffic going to Olympic websites and searches for Olympic terms.
"In the UK the Olympics were by far the biggest for its category ever in terms of the amount of internet visits."
London won the right to host the Olympics in four years time after winning a voting contest over Paris.
