Social networking has "real benefits"

People can even benefit from the likes of Facebook, Myspace and Bebo while they are at work, according to independent think tank Demos.
Peter Bradwell from Demos, speaking on behalf of Orange Business UK, commented: "There are difficulties but, if you can get the balance right, there are some real benefits.

"There are clear benefits economically and with regard to the development of ideas and innovation in the way that a workplace works but there are challenges this opens up for organisations."
Neilsen Online research has found that people in the UK are online four per cent more now than they were a year ago.
Also, the largest increase in minutes spent on websites is for social networks and blogging, with 1.3 billion minutes spent on the sites this year, compared to 2007 figures.
