Mobile banking useful for international travel

According to a survey from Compass Intelligence, 7.3 per cent of people over 18 bank through their mobiles.
However, it is people who frequently go travelling that utilise mobile banking services the most.
The groups who use mobile banking most are people who travel at least five times a month and young adults aged between 18 and 24, the survey revealed.

Stephanie Atkinson, managing partner of Compass Intelligence, commented that the increasing take-up of smartphones is also boosting mobile banking.
"The growth in smart phone adoption is expected to be a leading factor in the future adoption of mobile banking," she said.
Smartphones such as Blackberries are growing in popularity, but travellers are likely to call back home regularly regardless of what type of phone they have, with a Lonely Planet survey suggesting four fifths of travellers take a mobile on trips.
