Cheap pay as you go mobiles being used for texts
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs. Providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.More and more people are using their cheap pay as you go mobiles for sending text messages, with figures revealing a huge increase in the amount of messages sent in Britain.
Compared to last year, there are now 60 million more messages being sent every day in the UK, the Mobile Data Association (MDA) has revealed.
As well as this 38 per cent increase, video and picture messaging is also up by 20 per cent.
Steve Reynolds, the MDA's chairman, commented that networks ranging from 3 to T-Mobile were offering interesting deals that encouraged people to text more.

"New mobile phones with easy to use software and creative tariffs from the mobile networks are encouraging people of all ages to use more of their functionality - from music, video and pictures to email communications and now GPS and mapping on the move," he said.
"The mobile phone has evolved far beyond simple voice and text messaging. It sits at the centre of our lives at home and at work."
In the UK, there are 74 billion mobile phone connections, catering for a population of 60 million, the International Telecommunication Union has indicated.
