Cheap pay as you go mobiles favoured for internet

More than half of respondents to an IBM survey stated that they would prefer to use their mobiles to surf the web rather than PCs.
Within the next three years, 39 per cent of consumers also expect to increase their mobile internet use by at least 40 per cent.
Dr Sungyoul Lee, global consulting leader for IBM's electronics industry, said that he believes adoption of mobile phones as the most popular way to view the internet is "just around the corner".
"The time is now for companies to develop intuitive applications and services that allow people of all ages to effortlessly access and use the internet while on the go," he commented.
It is expected that by 2013, 5.8 billion people will own mobile phones on networks such as 3, meaning 80 per cent of the world's population will be using mobiles.
