Money saving holidays sought
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs. Providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.People in the UK are frequently choosing holidays that will cost less as they try to cut back on the amount of money they spend on luxuries, a consumer watchdog has said.
The current economic climate is leading people to search for money saving bargains rather than luxury breaks, the Air Transport Users' Council (AUC) has indicated.
Those looking to save money on holiday may also choose to make low-cost international calls when travelling abroad.
James Fremantle, the AUC's industry affairs manager, commented: "At the moment I think people are concerned about financial protection."
However, he added that "basically you pay for what you get", regardless of exchange rates or the credit crunch.
"Whatever the economic climate is most passengers make decisions based on price," he said.
British currency has hit a five-year low against the US dollar this week and the pound is also weak against the euro, which could make more people choose to holiday in more unusual locations.
