YouTube for shopping network
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Cheap broadband users obsessed with checking out hilarious videos on YouTube and buying the latest goods on Amazon will soon be able to combine the two after a link up between the companies.
Videos on YouTube will now have links to products that are being displayed in the clips, allowing them to be bought while the video is enjoyed.
Visits to iTunes can also be made direct from YouTube links, with cheap broadband users clicking links and being redirected to the music giant.
Shishir Mehrotra, YouTube's director of product management said: "This is just the first step in this adventure."
In the US the shopping venture is already up and running and it is expected to come to the UK soon.
Just under 100 million people use YouTube every month in the US, but the free content nature of the site means that it is currently pulling in only £115 million a year.
Two years ago Google bought YouTube in a deal worth more than £1 billion and it is attempting to add more and more features to the site to make the purchase a profitable one.
