Hot Spots for YouTube fans
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.People who love to upload videos on to YouTube can now find out exactly what parts of their videos are the best, thanks to a new tool.
Google, which owns the user-generated content website, has announced Hot Spots, a tool that allows people to see which part of their videos others enjoy the most.
Cheap broadband users will be able to tell whether serious footage they post is preferred, or if falling over or appearances by pets gets a bigger laugh, so they can improve on their videos in the future.
Tracy Chan and Nick Jakobi from YouTube believe the new idea allows users to "study their effectiveness".
"We determine 'hot' and 'cold' spots by comparing your video's abandonment rate at that moment to other videos on YouTube of the same length, and incorporating data about rewinds and fast-forwards," they wrote on YouTube Insight's official blog.
A current big hit on the site is a compilation of spoofs about US vice-president candidate Sarah Palin.
