3 is 'cheapest and fastest'

Mobile operator 3 is the fastest provider of cheap broadband of all the five major mobile services, according to research.

The firm has the lowest charges and its connection speeds are the fastest, a review by PC Pro magazine has suggested.

T-Mobile, O2, Orange and Vodafone were also compared, but the newest firm of the five, 3, came out on top.

The PC Pro review said: "3 offer the cheapest monthly broadband tariff, but also recorded the fastest connection speed of the five networks tested here.

"Connection speeds were consistently between 1 and 2Mb, providing comparable performance to Vodafone."

However, 3 did have problems with reconnection after travelling through broadband 'blackspots', such as when going through a tunnel on a train journey.

A new 3 handset with Skype capabilities is currently being promoted to young professionals, with branded marquees, inflatable chairs and other attractions set to promote the phone in three separate London locations.
