Ofcom to search for mobile industry deals

The industry regulator could provide recommendations of how to save money, with differing models for the mobile market being assessed.
A focus on how overseas market models work is likely to form a major part of the investigation, which could result in low cost international calls for people in the UK.
Ed Richards, Ofcom's chief executive, commented that the process aims mainly to give customers a better deal.
However, Orange head of government policy and mobile regulation, Simon Grossman, is not so positive about the move.
"We welcome the review but we are concerned about areas that don't need regulation, like customer service," he said.
"We are concerned that Ofcom is using this review to impose regulation in areas that don't need it."
According to recent research, 94 per cent of the country is happy with their mobile phone service.
