One third of firms ban social networking sites
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Over one third of companies in the UK have banned their employees from using social networking sites, according to a new survey.
Mobile operator 3 has revealed that 35 per cent of businesses in the UK do not allow workers to use the likes of Facebook and Bebo.
The percentage places the UK as one of the strictest countries in Europe in terms of internet restrictions for staff, with Spain coming in second with 19 per cent restricting social networking use.
More than a quarter of employees believe that taking a break by going on a social networking site can be beneficial to their work as it ensures there is balance within their working day.
With using cheap broadband to socialise at work being forbidden in so many cases, lots of workers are turning to their mobiles to access websites, 3 suggested.
A conference to discuss social networking is set to take lace in London between September 22nd and 23rd.
