Vodafone to raise minimum call charges
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls.Vodafone is to increase its minimum call charges for Pay As You Go customers, it has been reported.
Vodafone's 18.4 million UK customers, according to the Times, will find their minimum call charges rising by a quarter this September after they exceed their monthly bundle, or tariff, a move likely to leave fans of low cost international calls decidedly unimpressed as these will also rise by 25 per cent.
However, a Vodafone spokesperson told the BBC: "If people are significantly impacted, we will work with them to find the right price plan."
She added that the move was the first such action taken in more than two years and follows similar price rises from 02 and T-Mobile.
Call prices will rise from 12 pence per minute a minute to 15 pence per minute, a move analysts say claim is to claw back money from revenue that will be lost from the European Commission plans to reduce termination rates, the Times reports.
