Mobile phone advertising on the increase

Over half of UK mobile users are receiving mobile advertising, the latest Mobile Advertising Report (MAR) reveals.
With 51 per cent of users receiving advertising, the number is far less than in India, where 85 per cent of mobiles get the services, but people making cheap international calls on their mobile are no longer free from product placement.
Jonathon Linner, CEO of social community Limbo, commented: "We're seeing an increase in consumer awareness of a variety of mobile advertising campaigns, from text message to interactive games to mobile internet banner advertisements.
"With mobile phone usage growing, it's logical for more companies to seek mobile marketing as a way to reach their segmented targets in this direct and highly interactive medium."
Text message advertising gets to 48 per cent of the UK, while Britain is also most susceptible to mobile internet ads, with 16 per cent compared to just eight in the US.
