In a move that is likely to result in more people buying handsets to make cheap international calls on the high street, the world's largest mobile phone operator by revenue has revealed its expansion plans.
Just five months ago Vodafone unveiled plans to recruit 300 more retail staff, while this new move will create a further 200 sales jobs.
As part of the company's efforts to improve customer service, new stores will appear nationwide, with Bristol and London the first cities penciled in for openings.
Mature mobile markets like the UK are growing more slowly than other countries so Vodafone are looking for a way to reignite the market.
The announcement follows new research that suggested that more people are buying mobiles online and high-street stores are on the decline.
