Spell check comes to internet
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Text speak and chat room speak has always been a source of annoyance for some internet users and language purists.
But new features which can be used on the Internet Explorer or Firefox browsers mean that even people whose spelling has been crippled by an over-reliance on shortcuts and a mixture of numbers and letters can type an immaculate letter.
Both the browsers offer spell checkers, Firefox, the infinitely customisable browser from the Mozilla Foundation first offered spell check as an add-on though though it later became part of the platform in versions two and three.
Meanwhile the IE7Pro also has a way of checking for misspellings, though it is an add on.
Some people might think that spelling is only important when writing an email or preparing a homework assignment using the wonderful world of knowledge at their fingertips on the web.
However, misspelling a search term could render even casual surfing useless and could stand in the way of web users finding exactly what they are looking for. For example, tariff, as in skinttarriffs.com, has two 'f's.
