More people go online from phones
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. The ease with which mobile phone customers can now access the internet on the go has seen a rise in the numbers of people surfing the web, checking their emails and checking the weather, a new report reveals.
A study by Nielsen Mobile has found that 12.9 per cent of UK mobile phone users access the internet over their handsets.
This means that as well as using their phones to make cheap international calls, handset owners are tapping in to the largest source of information in the world.
And the study also revealed that Nokia had provided a more popular web browsing platform than Apple's iPhone, a discovery that runs counter to expectations given the iPhones design.
In the UK the Nokia N70 and the N95 are the most used handsets for accessing the web, while in the US, where 15.6 per cent of mobile phone users go online from their phones, the most used handset was the Motorola RAZR.
