Broadband increases bingo market
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Bingo is benefiting from the advent of cheap broadband as it has taken a firm grip on the online gaming market, according to the Global Betting and Gaming Consultants (GBGC).
Playing the much-loved game online could eventually represent up to 25 per cent of the world's entire online betting and gaming market and make over $2 billion (£1 billion) in profit.
Warwick Bartlett, the GBGC's chairman, told the bingo summit conference in London that he believes fast, cheap broadband is vital to the growth of the game.
"As broadband penetration increases, people become more conscious about the cost of driving to real-world bingo halls," he said.
"When they find that they can't smoke when they get there, playing bingo from home becomes more and more attractive. From a customer point of view it is a great gambling proposition at a very low cost."
The UK is home to the worlds most developed online bingo market, bingo information site Which Bingo claims.
