Online bid to buy rugby club
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Broadband users are planning to purchase and contribute to the management of a rugby club in order to "transform the club into a Premiership heavyweight".
Following on from the My Football Club and the People's Football Club experiments Our Rugby Club aims to attract fans who will pay a £30 annual subscription to provide funds for a club.
Previous schemes to buy football clubs involved using the collected members' cash to buy the club outright, but the rugby proposition instead aims to invest in a small club to help it reach the prestigious Premiership.
According to the site, the purpose of attracting fans to its cause is to collect "a community of knowledgeable, like-minded rugby supporters and, by pooling our financial resources, ORFC will help a rugby club to attract new players and coaching staff."
In order for the investment to take off, the site will need to attract 10,000 subscription-paying members.
