Google biggest mobile search engine
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. People accessing the internet from their mobile phone handsets are most likely to use Google as their search engine, research has confirmed.
Nielsen Mobile, which tracks the habits of mobile phone users has revealed that the online search giant has a 61 per cent market share.
Its dominance in the mobile internet world mirrors its prime position as the most used search engine online.
Research by the tracker established that Yahoo, with 18 per cent, is the second biggest player in internet searching, while MSN is limping along with only five per cent.
The figures for the first quarter of 2008 also revealed that the majority of searchers are male.
The most used search category was information, followed by local listings and websites and navigation.
Google is the default search engine of the stylish and coveted iPhone by Apple, with Google searches outnumbering others by 50 from that handset.
