Google Earth helps teens plan illegal pool parties
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.Swimming pool owners have been advised to be on their guard after teenagers using their broadband connections have been organising secret parties in other people's pools.
Using Google Earth, which allows internet users to get birds eye views of the planet, as well as detailed maps, groups of teenagers have pinpointed houses which have swimming pools.
The groups, which are taking part in the so-called 'dipping' craze, have then used social networking sites to send out invitations and broadcast the location of the pool party.
A police spokeswoman said: "We are advising owners of swimming pools to be on their guard and extra vigilant. We would also warn prospective swimmers that using someone else's pool is trespassing and therefore illegal."
Another innovative use for the Google Earth programme was found by Melanie Coles, who put a giant Where's Wally cartoon on a roof in Vancouver.
