News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. The new version of Apple's stylish iPhone could go on sale in the UK for as little as £100, according to reports.
Apple chief executive Steve Jobs is to unveil the new phone at the Worldwide Developer' Conference in San Francisco next Monday, with the phone expected on shelves by July.
In the UK O2, which offers deals through skinttariffs.com, is the only operator with the right to sell the phone.
Sources say that Apple will allow network providers to subsidise the phone, a prospect that could see it cost as little as £100, compared to the original cost of £269.
"They are looking for more flexibility on how the operators can price the iPhone, although I am not convinced that they will let them have open season on the price, as they have lucrative iPod market to protect," Ben Wood, an analyst for CCS Insight, told the Daily Telegraph.
