Parents should ask children about online behaviour
Cyberspace offers children a whole world of opportunities, though like the real world, it also has some dangers, which parents should explain to their children, according to a service to keep young people safe. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre has urged parents to talk to their children about the potential risks that lurk online and said that the best way parents can help their children is by sitting down with them to explain the dangers.
A spokesperson from the group said that it is important to help children develop useful behaviour patterns from as young as five years old.
Our position is this: there is no substitute for actually sitting down with your kids and actually asking them what they are doing online, she said.
Accessing the internet is becoming increasingly popular and high-speed broadband is reaching a greater portion of the population than ever. Virgin Media, Sky and Orange are among the firms offering broadband deals, which come in various different packages.
