Gamers have been going online like never before following the release of Grand Theft Auto IV, according to one ISP.PlusNet announced that the day after the game's release, more than 90,000 people, about one third of its broadband customers were playing games online.
On April 30th, the day after the release, there was a 50 per cent increase in the amount of gaming traffic, with the two busiest gaming hours ever taking place on the same day.
Neil Armstrong, PlusNet products director said: "Gaming accounted for approximately 7.6 per cent of all downloads in that hour - we'd normally expect to see between 3.5 per cent and 5 per cent by gaming around that time of day."
