Drive smart to save money on petrol
Motoring on the UK roads is increasingly getting more expensive as petrol costs rise, but drivers can still find ways of saving money on their personal travel.Last week, the average price of petrol rose beyond the £5 per gallon mark, and that was before the price of petrol per barrel broke the $120 (£60) mark this week.
According to uSwitch, drivers can expect to pay an average of £2,677 on fuel bills per year.
Some inroads can be made into these bills by looking for the cheapest petrol deals, as prices vary from station to station.
Another way of cutting costs is to become a part of a car share, the Mail on Sunday advises.
Drivers can opt to join friends or colleagues in sharing lifts to work for example, or they can join sites such as liftshare, where there are 200,000 members eager to find someone to share their journey with.
Another way of cutting fuel consumption is to use fuel-friendly driving techniques. The Mail on Sunday notes that driving at 56 miles per hour uses 25 per cent less fuel than driving at 75 miles per hour.
