2nd gen iPhone rival unveiled
An iPhone rival is set to release the second generation of its touchscreen mobile phone handset. As well as the standard features and the ability to make cheap international calls on access codes from skinttariffs.com, the HTC Touch Diamond has a host of functions to rival the iPhone.
Its interface, which includes a large touchscreen is also similar to the popular Apple product and is based on the principle of "thumbability", according to the firm's chief innovation officer, Horace Luke.
What we want people to be able to do is the equivalent of walk and chew gum at the same time; walk down the street and access the internet at the same time," he told the Guardian
The HTC Touch, the first generation handset, sold three million units in 50 countries, and the maker hopes the second version will do better.
HTC's Touch Diamond runs on Windows Mobile operating system, which users navigate using a clickwheel, though users can also interact with their device with a stylus.
The new device will be available in Europe next month.
