1 in 3 use online banking
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals.One in three Britons have gone online to check their bank account balance or make financial transactions, according to a recent survey.
The study, carried out by Comscore, revealed that nearly 11 million users logged on to at least one internet account, using a dial-up or a broadband connection.
According to the study, Lloyds TSB was the most popular banking website, attracting the greatest number of overall visits. Its 2.8 million online banking customers visited on average 6.8 times during the month.
The Royal Bank of Scotland Group had a slightly greater number of users, with 2.9 million, but they visited less regularly and were split among the banks various online offerings including Natwest online.
Behind the top two were HSBC, which was used by 2.4 million consumers and Barclays Bank, which 1.7 million people used to access their bank account.
Figures for access to online banking services did not include mobile phone access, which a recent survey revealed is on the rise in the US.
