Nokia develops mobile payment phone
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. A new Nokia handset allows handset can allow users to make transactions such as paying with credit or debit simply by placing the phone near a sensor.
Using near field communication (NFC) technology, the Nokia 6212 simplifies wireless transfers.
"By tapping an NFC-enabled tag, consumers can receive new content such as Web links, audio files, or contact data directly to their phone. They can activate a profile in their handset or open applications such as FM radio or Web browser," Nokia said in a statement.
NFC-capable phones can also share business cards, photos and videos.
Of interest to advertisers and promoters will be the fact that phones will be able to interact with objects with embedded NFC tags which could allow people to download content by placing their phone within a few inches of it.
The Nokia allows people to make cheap international calls with skinttariff.com access codes while giving them a whole new way of interacting with their environment.
