UKs 3rd broadband provider sees customer numbers up
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of cheap broadband deals. The UK's third largest broadband provider announced that its customer base has risen against a backdrop of a slowing economy.
TalkTalk, which is owned by Carphone Warehouse and offers home broadband deals through Skinttariffs.com, saw the number of customers it connects to the internet rise to 2.7 million by the end of the first quarter of the year.
Between January and March 109,000 customers signed up for the broadband services offered by the firm.
Chief executive Charles Dunstone said: "Our performance over the last three months has been good in a slower consumer environment."
He also said that good progress was being made on changing customers over to the firm's own network.
Following the purchase of AOL UK, the Carphone group became the largest provider of broadband connections after BT and Virgin Media, which also provides home broadband and TV package deals through skinttariffs.com.
Despite the growth, analysts were disappointed as they had expected the figures to be more substantial and shares in the firm fell seven per cent.
