Prepaid cards 'save travellers money'
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. As well as making money savings when calling home on their mobile by using skinttariffs.com access codes, travellers can save money by taking out a prepaid debit card, according to experts.
Prepaid cards, essentially a replacement to Travellers Cheques, have become increasingly popular with travellers.
Before heading abroad, holidaymakers simply deposit the desired amount of funds into the card and then they can use it as a normal credit or debit card abroad, though without incurring excessive exchange charges.
Steve Wiley, head of cards and payments at the moneysupermarket website, said: "Once people have got comfortable with the concept and realise that there are savings to be made, then I think this will become just 'the way to do things'."
As well as making cash savings, using prepaid cards could also help travellers budget.
Instead of getting carried away by the holiday feeling and spending what they do not have, holidaymakers will be able to rein in their spending.
