Switching electricity can save money and planet
News brought to you by Skint Tariffs, providers of price comparison for cheap international calls. Some 14 million householders may want to make cheap international calls to loved ones to boast of the good work they have done to save money and planet if they take the advice of one finance site.
According to Money Supermarket, Britons could save a cumulative £1.2 billion if they swapped their electricity supplier to the cheapest green energy producer.
And, at the same time, the site claims that if all the households which could make these savings followed the advice, it would cut the nation's carbon emissions by 20 million tonnes, the equivalent of three per cent of all UK greenhouse gases.
Scot Byron, the website's utilities manager, said: "If just one medium user of electricity in Southampton still on their original electricity tariff swapped to Scottish Power’s H2O tariff they would save £155 and reduce carbon emissions by 1.419 tonnes. Those sort of numbers show that even one person can make a big difference."
He added: ""I would hope the extra prospect of playing a major role in reducing global warming – on top of saving money – might be the extra prod that people need."
