New broadband TV fuses surfing and watching

Fast download times mean that growing numbers of people are viewing television online, but one firm, Blinkx, has developed broadband TV that does not forget its origins in the internet.
Some systems offer only the original content, just the images and audio of the television or film programme, but Blinkx offers viewers additional content as well.
Viewers can access transcripts of the programme as well as background information relating to the show they re watching.
This system fuses the television watching and internet surfing behaviours.
The Blinkx system also allows viewers to search within a programme, to find a word or phrase and then jump to that point to watch it.
